1. Operation Principle
The Thermostatic Wax that has been sealed in shell body induces expansion by a given temperature, and inner rubber seal part drives its handspike to move under expansion pressure to realize a transition from thermal energy into mechanical energy. The Thermostatic Wax brings an upward movement to its handspike, and automatic control of various function are realized by use of upward movement of handspike. It’s pretty cool to watch the actuator motor turn while you manually turn the temperature knob on the dash board. It’s neat to see that even though you are turning the blend knob pretty far from center to cold and center to hot, the actuator shaft really doesn’t turn that much. It only turns about 45 degrees either way from center, while the temp knob turns about 135 degrees either way from center. I guess that’s all they need it to move to effectively operate the blend door in the HVAC case.
