This is a very common issue, and fortunately the repair, although time consuming, isn’t difficult.
Pop the top of the console(not the woodgrain part) off, disconnect the trac control button and lay aside. Remove the rubber mat on the bottom of the storage compartment. Remove the two 10mm bolts in there, the two to the rear of the shifter and one on each side of the very front end of the console by your feet.
Remove the ashtray, then carefully work the console rearward enough to get the climate module out,
