1. Operation Principle
The Thermostatic Wax that has been sealed in shell body induces expansion by a given temperature, and inner rubber seal part drives its handspike to move under expansion pressure to realize a transition from thermal energy into mechanical energy. The Thermostatic Wax brings an upward movement to its handspike, and automatic control of various function are realized by use of upward movement of handspike. The return of handspike is accomplished by negative load in a given returned temperature.

(4)Lag phenomenon is generally 1 ~ 2℃. Friction of each component part and lag of the component part temperature cause a lag phenomenon. Because there is a difference between up and down curve of traveling distance.

My wife is an amputee (BKA); she could not reach the kickstand. I installed an automatic Linear Actuator, just push the rocker switch & it is a nice smooth transition. It works perfectly! I also made modifications to the shift lever by adding a heel lever which gives it a heel/toe configuration, she could not pull up the toe lever without it rolling off the end of her boot, I also fabricated the heel support that I attached to her riding peg so her prosthetic foot would not slip off the peg. For esthetic purposes I added the same heel support on the right riding peg to balance the appearance of her motorcycle. It all came together perfectly!! (I have no idea why but they sell them for $.50-2.00)
Believe it or not most house light switches also contain mercury tilt switches, those can be obtained at construction and demolition sites as well 
It used to be real easy to ask for the Mercury thermometers that the school were disposing of, but now they have pretty much all been eradicated.
Mercury costs $10 a pound currently (used to cost $160/lb), but if you can’t buy it in bulk it can cost upwards of $100 a pound for pure elemental Mercury
