1. Operation Principle

The Thermostatic Wax brings an upward movement to its handspike, and automatic control of various function are realized by use of upward movement of handspike. The return of handspike is accomplished by negative load in a given returned temperature.

This design has become the industry standard for liquid pipeline pressure/flow control applications. Low deadband (0.05%), short deadtime (90 mS), with brushless servo motors (no limitation on starts/stops per hour). True system approved hazardous area ratings (not only component level approvals) – these have firm complete system approvals and the documentation to go along with it. Total oil volume in this high torque hydraulic system is 10 quarts (9.5 liters) – about 2.5 US Gallons. An electric actuator and gearbox in this torque range would contain more grease. Other EH type actuators would have at least 10X the oil – which would require routine maintenance – and continuously consume power.
