1. Operation Principle
The Thermostatic Wax that has been sealed in shell body induces expansion by a given temperature, and inner rubber seal part drives its handspike to move under expansion pressure to realize a transition from thermal energy into mechanical energy. The Thermostatic Wax brings an upward movement to its handspike, and automatic control of various function are realized by use of upward movement of handspike. The return of handspike is accomplished by negative load in a given returned temperature.

3.Main Technical Parameters
(1)Handspike’s height may be confirmed by drawing and technical parameters
(2)Handspike movement is relatives to the temperature range of the element, and the effective distance range is from 1.5mm to 20 mm.
(3)Temperature control range of thermal wax actuator is between –20 ~ 230℃.
(4)Lag phenomenon is generally 1 ~ 2℃. Friction of each component part and lag of the component part temperature cause a lag phenomenon. Because there is a difference between up and down curve of traveling distance.
(5)Loading force of thermal wax actuator is difference, it depends on its’ shell size.

His dash is a little different from mine since he has the Laramie Edition.
The part that went bad is the Blend Door Actuator. I got the replacement part from my local Dodge dealer. Some folks seem to think there is a recall on this but for $50 I figured it was easier just to do it myself and not spend a bunch of time with the dealership.
I shot this video since the actuator in my truck was accessed differently.
Hopefully this can help someone else save some time and money on this very easy repair.
This is a video of my 1972 Clark C-500-55 forklift. I rescued it from an apartment complex in South St. Petersburg, Florida. It is a gasoline powered forklift and was sitting under a carport non running for 10 years. We got it started and took it to my shop for a full restoration. It was shipped February 15th 1972 to Standard warehouse company in Columbia, South Carolina. It was a carpet moving forklift. It runs good and has a lift capacity of 5500 lbs. I installed new lift cylinder/power steering seals,lights, gauges wiring,switches,fuse block, tune up, fluids etc. Made in the USA.
