The Thermostatic Wax that has been sealed in shell body induces expansion by a given temperature, and inner rubber seal part drives its handspike to move under expansion pressure to realize a transition from thermal energy into mechanical energy. The Thermostatic Wax brings an upward movement to its handspike, and automatic control of various function are realized by use of upward movement of handspike. The return of handspike is accomplished by negative load in a given returned temperature.

And BTW if you doing this job or swapping one out good luck not fun at all what looks simple is far from it, talking entire differential. even this particular seal is also not fun job either



    2001 Ford Escape V6, would not Idle, after it warmed up it would idle at a VERY low RPM (like 200?). Blew copious amounts of white smoke after starting at 3000-4000 RPM. The under carriage is too rusted, the CAT is leaking, the Y exhaust is shot. So what we own is a good set of tires, a good motor & tranny, to sell for junk!
